Some petitions that you might consider signing

Petition in defense of Palestinian universities, organized by Faculty For Israeli-Palestinian Peace. Signers should be university faculty members (in any country).

Petition in defense of Gush Shalom, the Israeli peace group that has been accused of treason by Prime Minister Sharon because of its efforts to make Israel Defense Forces officers aware of the Geneva war crimes convention. This petition will be published in Ha'aretz and possibly in other Israeli newspapers. Everyone can sign.

Statement in support of Courage to Refuse (Ometz Lesarev), the Israeli Defense Force reserve combat officers and soldiers who have refused to serve in the occupied territories. The organizers hope to publish this statement in Ha'aretz and the New York Times. Signers should be Americans.

A "Call for Moderation" in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, organized by Professor Joel Lebowitz of Rutgers University. Everyone can sign.

"We oppose both Saddam Hussein and the U.S. war on Iraq: A call for a new, democratic U.S. foreign policy", drafted by the Campaign for Peace and Democracy. Everyone can sign.

Open Letter from the academic community opposing a U.S. invasion of Iraq, organized by faculty members at the University of Minnesota and elsewhere. Signers should have some university affiliation (faculty, student, staff, etc).

Statement opposing U.S. plans for an invasion of Iraq, organized by Law Professors for the Rule of Law. Signers should teach law at an American law school.

Open letter to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan against war with Iraq, co-sponsored by Z Magazine. Everyone can sign.
